It's when I'm sitting in bed, with a cup of tea nearly too cold to drink, without make-up on and with a grey "Spring" sky outside, that I'm glad I have a massive backlog of photos ready to go. So, the beady-eyed Instagram followers be thinking "but I thought you hadn't been to Liverpool for ages?" would be correct - this was over a month ago, but let's pass it off as a #TBS, leave the eyeliner far, far away, and save the PJ's of the day for another desperate outfit post.

I headed back to my university city on the first fair weather weekend of the year with two unnecessary coats in tow. First stop was Bill's with Jade, having a four hours too late breakfast which went down just like the treat it was. We then popped over to the Georgian quarter (fave 4eva) to snap these photos before I met up with my friends in the Quarter for a catch-up over crumble. We left the sweets behind as we headed into town to avoid the Harvey Nichols beauty bazaar get an outfit for the oncoming evening of green-lit bars and, I quote, "the dungeon". A lot of dancing later, we were waking up to a much-needed Moose before everyone went their own ways. Weekends in Liverpool are always fleeting, but that's just the perfect excuse to head back soon.

There are plenty of things in life you can rely on. The list includes:

- re-reading 'His Dark Materials'

- cheesy chips

- 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'

- a (strong, no sugar) mug of 'Yorkshire Tea'

- a go-to must-have wear-all-the-time little black dress

My collection of LBDs started way back when, and I always seem to treat myself to a new one every few months. Personal favourites include a velvet bodycon number I picked up for my eighteenth birthday (cor, this is a blast from the past, still stand by the sentiment though), all-over sequins for my twenty-first, and a velvet smock dress because velvet and smock. When boohoo got in touch and asked if I wanted to style up one of their dresses, I subconsciously very actively headed straight to the black section to see which one would be my next in my wardrobe. I decided to go for this shift dress with D-ring detailing (this one fits true to size, I probably didn't need to size up this time), and dressed it up with the prettiest shoes around and stacked rings. This worked out being the perfect Saturday lunch dress, because who doesn't love a dress you can adjust to fit more loosely post-dessert? No one. Absolutely no one.

It's pretty chilly out, isn't it? Where I live we had a grand two minutes of snow yesterday, but that doesn't mean the air was any kinder. With clear blue skies and the bitter winds which accompanied it, my mum and I headed out for a bite to eat and sat in a cosy sunbathed corner looking over rolling countryside. This does sound incredibly picturesque (it was, and the food was good), but that did mean wearing two coats to counter the length of the sparkly mini skirt and having flushed cheeks even in one of the rare moments I hadn't done anything embarrassing, I promise.

This week looks set to be a good'un. From dinner with work at Dishoom to a belated birthday bash with my babes at Sushi Samba (if only that started with a B too), I've got plenty of excuses to not let blue Monday get to me tomorrow, because if a formula is telling me I'm going to be sad, I'm going to try with all my might to make sure that it's the best day ever. Take that science.

Think of this post as an ode to the charity shop. It's been a while since I wore top to toe second hand, but a few weeks ago I found this leather pencil skirt for less than a Pret salad and it reminded me why I always end up heading back to those friendly little stores. As a student, my blog used to document my usual charity shop outfits, but when I moved to Munich things started to get more high street again. A quick browse of the rails of my local charity shop on the way to buy a pint of milk (a girl needs tea, okay) proved to me, yet again, that sometimes you need a little more than asos premier to find something a little special. Admittedly, I need to alter this pencil skirt a little, but where else would you find a real leather pencil skirt for such a tiny price tag?

I decided to debut this little number on a day trip to Ipswich, a town I hadn't visited for a good five years. It's an odd place, but I do appreciate its charm, even down to the statue of Cardinal Wolsey. Just a little bit outside of the town centre is this charming road of old buildings, so we found this suitably warm-toned bookshop to browse before dinner and snap a few photos of my new-to-me outfit. Now, to think of more places nearby to explore...

Southend is one of those places I tend to forget how much I love till I visit again. Although it offers a pretty good Monday night out, it's probably more famous for its pier, Adventure Island and Rossi's ice cream - nothing beats it! My mum and I popped over a couple of weekends ago on a whim and treated ourselves to a stroll along the estuary and, of course!, some fish and chips at the end of the day. There's nothing quite like a trip to the seaside to lift your spirits, and I just couldn't help but make the most of the day trip by taking some outfit photos, even if I do look rather windswept. Even though I'm no queen of the bardot neckline Dunya, I've found myself drawn to the shape quite a lot recently, and I snapped up this bargain top for a tenner on asos. Are you a fan of the trend?

Today has been considerably less cute, and I'm currently sat nursing a rather persistent hangover which even a trip to Nando's hasn't seemed to fix. I'm about to make my first cup of tea of the day to try and ward it off before settling down to catch up with blogs and youtube to round off the weekend - happy Sunday!
