My evening skincare routine.

Every time I write a beauty post, I like to reaffirm that I am not a beauty blogger, know absolutely diddly squat about make up, and instead tend to fill my "reviews" with sarcasm and test products in a rather obscure way. I only really religiously read two beauty blogs (looking at yours, Kate and Ellie), and instead form my decisions about what I put on my face by what happens to be on offer when I head into Boots or am feeling reckless browsing Feel Unique. I have, however, found a few products which I absolutely adore, and thought you guys might be interested in something of a little insight as to what I do on autopilot when I'm absolutely cream crackered.

cleanse

On a normal night, I'll use the Bioderma Micellar solution (or whatever it's called) first, then double cleanse with my Vichy Pureté Thermale cleanser. The Bioderma is absolutely amazing at removing make up, and despite its claims of being for sensitive skin I do find that it dries mine out a little. I did try to use the Vichy one on its own, and it tends to be the one I throw in my gym bag as it's a pretty secure little tube that won't explode in my bag, but I wouldn't say it's the best at removing make up, but better at actually cleansing the skin. When I use the two together, they kind of equal out, and my skin feels squeaky clean without needing any extra moisture (but don't worry, I do moisturise too!).
Of course, my favourite Liz Earle cleanse and polish is still included, but I don't really use this every day, I instead use it when I feel like my skin needs that little extra bit of lovin' or if I've got the extra time.

moisturise

I don't tone (can't be bothered, and I've never seen any benefits when I've tried samples of the stuff. Remember the whole "not a beauty blogger" thing), and instead skip straight to the moisturising step. I use Lush's bubblegum lip scrub when I remember, but I probably won't repurchase as it's pretty easy to make your own. I will give it its dues though, it smells and tastes amazing, and has lasted me absolutely bloody ages.
I then use the Kiehl's ultra facial moisturiser which I picked up during Glamour shopping week and therefore had 20% off. It really is super moisturising, but I'm kinda disappointed (and annoyed with myself for not noticing till I got home) that it doesn't have any SPF. Thankfully my BB cream has some, but I much prefer my moisturisers to include it so if I fancy being reckless and going make up free I don't have to worry about exposure to the sun.
When it comes to the rest of me, I'm a bit of a sucker for Soap and Glory's products. Not only is the packaging pretty and it smells amazing, it's also pretty good at what it promises to do. I frequently use the righteous butter body butter and heel genius foot cream to try and combat my horrifically dry skin. During the summer months I try to look less see through by using the Palmers natural bronze cream. I'm a long time fan of their normal body cream (I'll probably repurchase it when all my other body creams and butters have run out) and it's pretty cheap when you pick it up from Wilkos, so was excited to try out the bronzing version when I got a small bottle of it in a goodie bag. Once that had run out, I went to buy the full version as it doesn't smell as bad as other tanning products (although it does tend to hang around for a little bit), and builds up naturally and subtly, whilst still being as moisturising as the normal one.

So, this may not be the post to end all beauty posts, but it's the routine I've fallen into, and I don't think it's doing all that badly. Do let me know if you'd like to see more of this kind of thing, if not it's more than likely I'll leave it a year until the next one (again).

It's late in the evening, glass on the side.

Dorothy Perkins floral midi skirt: c/o House of Fraser. Pink silk shirt: 75p, via charity shop. New Look heeled sandals. Urban Outfitters straw hat: £12. Brandy Melville thug life necklace: €6. Vintage belt: 20p, via charity shop. Vintage patent bag: 20p, via boot sale. Marc by Marc Jacobs bracelet: gift from Harriet. Topshop lip polish (this is the new season version).

It looks like taking photos at this sunflower field may become an annual tradition, and I am totally okay with that when it means that I can come home with locally grown blooms which perk up my early morning starts during the week. After lunch breaks perusing the rails at House of Hackney and reading Kim's blog, I've been pretty determined to work some tropical palm prints into my wardrobe, and whilst the HoH palm print dream remains up that pipe, I'm more than happy to take things the midi way with this beautiful Dotty P skirt from House of Fraser (and it's only £22, tell me that's not a bargain). I'm planning to wear it with my new black Bardot neckline top next time, but I think it works rather well with this hot pink silk vest top I picked up in a charity shop a couple of years ago, don't you think? Add in some more thrifty finds, and you've got a pretty me~ outfit, if on a rather girly day.

I prepped in true Cohen style for these photos by eating a massive two course meal at a pub down the road, and would truly recommend the seafood sharing platter if you're planning to head to a chef and brewer pub any time soon - those whitebait, you won't regret it. Finished off with a passionfruit cider and catching some rays in the beer garden, I really don't think that Saturdays come much better than this.

Evening sunset and Lilylulu giveaway.

Yes, that is a cropped blouse. I never thought I'd see the day either, but with time (and with obsessing over the Whitepepper's lookbooks) these things happen, and when Lilylulu said they'd like to send an item my way, I saw this pastel perfect blouse and just knew it had to end up in my wardrobe. Unfortunately you can tell that no amount of time spent in the gym is going to make a difference, and it is a little tight so it's going to end up in one of my friend's wardrobes, but it's such a beautiful piece that I'm jealous of whoever nabs it first - so please do size up to avoid disappointment. I find that it can be pretty tricky to style cropped items, so I decided to layer it over an old Topshop sale buy for an evening walk. I would have loved to accessorise with rose gold jewellery, however I'm lacking in that particular style so opted for fail-safe black, and really do like how it turned out.

fancy your chances?

Lilylulu were kind enough to offer not just me but you guys a little treat from their new collection. The witching hour.

Asos lace smock dress: £14. Urban Outfitters straw hat: £12 (not online, but they still have them in the Spitalfields store). Selected Femme heels: c/o Logonstyle. Pandora bracelet, via Joshua James Jewellery. Vintage leather belt: 20p, via charity shop. Topshop really ruby lipstick. Barry M navy nail varnish.

There are definitely some unintentional witchy vibes in this outfit: let's just say the storms have awakened something in me. That, or not getting much sleep and then forcing myself to the gym puts me in a foul mood, which is probably much more likely. After a late night asos order found itself on my bed after spending the weekend celebrating Jazmine's 22nd, it was a case of bedroom catwalk, and I knew exactly how I wanted to style this lace smock dress. Sometimes I forget that when asos say oversized they mean that it's quite plausible for you to attempt to get two of you in it (tip: size down), so I can't quite work the boho babin' vibes that the model shows, and instead went to the best twenty pence purchase of my life (other than a Freddo) to nip it in at the waist and prove that I'm not actually six months gone. Moving on from the dress I decided to pop on my bargain urban outfitters sunhat and Selected Femme heels. It was a bit weird to have the elevation after falling out of the habit of wearing high heels on my Saturday night ritual (maybe I am a witch, my cauldron just contains a double vodka lemonade), but these babies are just too perfect to leave in their box for any time longer than absolutely necessary. A slick of red lipstick later, and, really, I think these witches knew they were totally onto a good thing...

Just busy earnin', you can't get enough.

When you have to say "could today possibly get more British?", you know you're having a pretty good day. Last weekend, my mum and I headed to the local village fayre in the blazing sunshine for some good old fashioned fun (quite literally, in the case of some of the books they had for sale there - talk about antiques!). If you're not acquainted with this truly british pastime, just think of condensing all our stereotypes into one day, and projecting them onto a village green. We're talking tea and cake served in mismatched antique crockery, middle aged men manning the barbecue, the scouts hosting a tombola, homegrown tomato plants being sold for 50p and pin the tail on the donkey - sounds dreamy, right? Add in the glorious sunshine, a happy couple getting married in the church next door (check out those wheels!) and heading to the pub for a cider on the way home, and you've got yourself the most perfect Saturday, in my eyes.

This asos smock dress has been in my life for a fair while now, and despite wearing it at least once a week for the past two months it somehow hasn't made it in front of the camera. I like its smock shape (duh), but how it can also be unpopped to make it into a matching crop top and skirt set. I know that Kristabel's enamoured of her crawlies print version, but I'm rather partial to this little dotty number. I decided to debut my new dainty Pandora bracelet too, which makes a welcome change from the chunky leather watch that usually adorns my wrist. I always feel a little lost without an arm party, namely due to having no idea what the time is, but I'd happily replace my timepiece for something a little classier when the moment/tan lines need it.
