Well, it's not every day you get a backdrop like this. Gone are the days of the wall and and my old flat's roof, we've moved on to mountains. Unfortunately, this isn't going to be a permanent feature as Munich tends to be on the flat side comparatively, but it makes for a nice change. When Lauren came back from a business trip last Thursday we reluctantly came to the realisation that Zurich simply wasn't going to happen in such a short time, so we looked closer: Innsbruck. Despite very nearly reaching Austria for our christmas party, I'd never quite made it over the border until we managed to snap up return bus tickets for €16(!!) and began winding our way down the German autobahns towards a lot of snow.

I didn't really know much about Innsbruck before we got there (and, in all honesty, I'd hardly call myself a tour guide now), but I'd recommend giving it a visit if you're ever in the area for the views alone. I probably said it more than enough times to annoy Lauren, but I just couldn't get over how you could see mountains poking out from behind the supermarket, between buildings, and just generally everywhere - spot the girl who comes from the flattest place in the UK. We spent most of our time exploring mainly by foot, aside from getting the cable car from Nordkette back to the centre of town. As regards touristy things, we spotted the goldenes dachl right in the centre of the altstadt (Maximilian I knew about bling long before Joey Essex), and also explored the Hofkirche, which had a pretty interesting way of telling Maximilian's life; I don't want to spoil it just in case you go, but don't skip the presentation as it's worth it.

We went just for the day, getting a coach that left Munich at 7.45, and returning by 10pm and think we'd managed to exhaust Innsbruck's possibilities. I've heard that Salzburg has a lot more to it, but I really enjoyed my first Austrian experience, with Vienna remaining on my "top places I'd like to visit" list - one day!

ps, if you like my top, you can buy a £50 Petit Bateau voucher for £25 on Vente-Privee. I wasn't asked to share this at all, but I think it's a pretty sweet deal, so thought you'd like to know!

pps, I purposefully went out of my way to use title lyrics of an Austrian artist. So enjoy "Loving You is Easy" by Camo & Krooked.

For some reason these photos have been sitting in a draft unused since February, so I decided that I might as well publish them while I've got a free morning. This is such a "get up and go" outfit for me, namely due to it requiring minimal effort and still looking put together enough to fool people into thinking that I didn't just snooze my alarm too many times that morning to do anything other than grab whatever happened to be at the top of the clothes pile. This top is the only scuba item I have, and I'm thoroughly disappointed by this trend due to its lack of snorkels; it's false advertising. I do, however, quite like the shape, its structured style hiding all manner of bread-based sins, and it's got slightly more to it than a normal white t-shirt. Add some boots and fedora, and who would know that I'd ran to catch the U-bahn that morning?

In contrast, this morning has been spent in my pyjamas booking my flights home and wishing there was an easy jet version of a costa card/they'd give me a free loyalty cuppa on the flight. The rest of my day will probably involve several cups of tea I've had to make myself (I know, what a chore) as I've come down with a horrible cold, certainly not the way I expected to spend my day off work. Hope you're all having a good Good Friday with considerably less germs than I've got!

I very nearly forgot about these photos, but a quick look through my (very full and overflowing, think post-Nando's) iPhoto library brought these to my attention. When I was home, Danielle and I went to our favourite breakfast spot and took these snaps when walking from the car into town; I like to call it car park chic. As I had a few bits and bobs to pick up, I thought it was high time I road-tested my new Nica backpack, which held four packets of percy pigs, a new memory card, my camera, and a jumper with plenty of room to spare, quite the novelty when it comes to my tendency for handbags. In addition to roomy bags, I also went for my new jeans which were the result of a rash asos order, and a blouse picked up by my mum in a charity shop sale for a mere fifty british pence.

As everyone at work is so kindly reminding me, I have three weeks left till I come back to the UK, and it's something I'll be in complete denial about until I book my flight back (which I should probably do soon...). I liked Munich from the day I arrived, but it feels like it's only really become a proper "home" in the past couple of months as I learn to walk all its back alleys and can give some really good restaurant recommendations. I've still got time to explore the rest of the Bavarian culture I'm yet to have sampled though, and that does mean I'm going to a beer festival in a dirndl - YES.

When I'm in London during the summer, it's not unlikely that you'll find me in one of its many parks with a picnic and Pimm's, but it took me a good few months to journey up to Olympiapark, which I'm going to blame on the weather - I'm British, after all. As the stadium was built from a dent left by a bomb dropped during the war, this area of Munich has some pretty dramatic landscaping, and it was odd to be wandering round in the bright sun while there was still snow atop some of the hills surrounding us. After spending the day sitting by the lake with a beer, and then hiring a pedalo and seeing the views from the water, I quickly nabbed these photos (under Stephanie's "creative direction") before the sun went down. Here's hoping the weather behaves so that we can do this more often!

If you follow me on instagram, you may have noticed that yesterday Lauren and I went to Innsbruck, Austria (instead of Zurich, due to deciding to do things a little bit too last minute), which was so beautiful I can't even begin to describe. Or rather, I'm going to do a blog post on it, so don't want to chat too much now. I've had to head to the office to blog as for some reason my wifi at home's decided to go AWOL, but otherwise I've had a pretty good weekend so far, and I hope you're all enjoying the time off.

Sometimes I have this rather grand idea about how an outfit will look, not be so convinced when I try it on, and then realise I'm late and have to leave wearing it anyway. Here is a perfect example. Although I like the idea of it (come on, stripes and jeans, what could go wrong?), I feel like it's just not quite right, somehow. Regardless of being able to tell that I'd indulged in Burger House the weekend before (no regrets, that burger was amazing), I think this would've been made better with a statement necklace; I've been eyeing up this one's chunky square jewels, or considering something more classic like pearls. That, or I've been reading Arabella's blog too much and think everything deserves a bit of sparkle, you decide. Right now it seems like I'm not being the fussiest of bloggers when it comes to photos, but I guess when life is so hectic and fast-paced a photo in which I haven't captured my best angle or my hair's frizzy hardly seems the end of the world, and it seemed a shame to not use the photos when I quite like the background and lighting. Just need to work on the subject...

On another note, have any of you ever been to Zurich before? Lauren and I are planning to head there for a weekend soon (...on Friday), and would love to hear if you have any recommendations for hotels or things we must do and see, so please do leave a comment or tweet me if you have some little nuggets of wisdom to share!

I know it's something of a blogger cliché, but I have always wanted to take some outfit photos in front of a tree as it blossoms in all its pink glory. When Lauren suggested a trip to the botanical gardens I didn't have anything more than floral photos in mind, but as soon as we walked through the gate and I saw the pink out of the corner of my eye I did dramatically think "it is time". So here I am, pretending to be girly, and being eternally glad that the bruise on my leg isn't showing, you can't hear any of the swearing as I just miss the tram, or know the sheer amount of beer that's been consumed this week alone. It's amazing what a pretty dress can do, even if I apparently can't pull it down at the front; I knew I'd slip up at some point.
