Playsuit: £22.50, Topshop. Blouse: Miss Selfridge (old). Battered chelsea boots: Topshop (old). Watch: gift, Rotary. Necklace: gift, Urban Outfitters. Satchel: c/o Stylistpick. Lipstick: Mischief, Topshop.

The weather is dull, so I tried to liven things up with a Cat-inspired jumping photo, but ended up looking rather foolish on my own - you can't blame a girl for trying.

The monotony of third year reading lists was broken on Saturday by celebrating Sita, Steph, and Beth's respective twenty-firsts - so I'd love to wish them a massive happy birthday from here too. I wore this playsuit with mega-heels for the occasion, but here's how I wear it during the day: A* for versatility. I'm not sure if it actually suits me, but I adore the print, and everyone has to make sacrifices at some point (the things we do for "fashion", eh?). This week's plan revolves around reading (big surprise), and maybe the Royal Tenenbaums. Speaking of, here's my attempt to take a Wes Anderson style shot...

Library Pictures

Sorry if you follow me on twitter, I got a bit overexcited when sharing this shoot I photographed and styled for the Tab. Following on from the Spotted craze, I thought the best place to locate our efforts would be the library, so we took over a toilet this morning and spent a while snapping away and confusing the other students who were being a bit too studious for a Saturday morning. The wonderful Taylor (click through to her blog!) and Amy were the best models I could've wished for, considering this was my first attempt at being a "photographer". So, this may not be my usual kind of post, but I am a little proud that I'm pushing myself to try something new.

One way or another.

"Horror" tee: £9, Topshop. Leather skirt: £13.50, Topshop. Boots: Stylistpick. Denim jacket; £63, NW3 by Hobbs. Scarf: £8, ebay.

Is this... sunshine? It's a deceptive springtime. I left the flat in this getup, only to find that it is certainly not warm enough for just a denim jacket, and had my hands balled into little fists inside the pockets for warmth - I never learn. Still, after a lecture on Barbie, Georgia, Clarity and I headed somewhere warm for a roll and cupcake (malteaser!) and a moan about how much work we're all collectively avoiding.

Which, in a rather convoluted way, brings me onto this t-shirt. Tapping into my inner Goth (I never had a proper phase, so this is my mini rebellion), I indulged in this "horror" t shirt in Topshop's January sale, and I am making sure I don't wear it all the time, for fear of looking like some oddball trying to relive their teenage years. I do, however, like how I've styled it completely differently to Lily - and this is why t-shirts are the best things ever, and no one ought to argue against that.

What I'd wear to Fashion Week.

NEW YORK

LONDON

MILAN

PARIS

While it would appear that everyone else has been braving Somerset House's cobbles, I've been rather studious, and have stayed in my university town, in order to catch up on my ever-extending reading list. This, however, hasn't stopped me from noticing everyone's instagrams, tweets, and general excitement about what London has to offer. Feeling rather left out, I cheered myself up a little by having a look around the Max Studio website and put together a few outfits based upon what I reckon each city would require. It would appear that I'm having a bit of a monochrome moment, but can you ever really beat a heeled chelsea boot? And with the amount of designer maxi dresses on offer, maybe I should give that London look a go! Now, do I try on a turtleneck as well, or leave it (ostensibly where it belongs) in the nineties...

And it's creeping its way through my windows.

Wool shorts: £69, Carven, via Cricket. Blouse: Topshop (old). Adder boots: £36, Topshop. Masquerade necklace: £9, Elsie Belle. Watch: gift, Rotary.

New camera, same facial expressions.
After years of threatening to/saving, I finally walked into Curry's and picked up a (bargain, may I add) Canon, which is currently sitting at the end of my bed. When girls are single for a while, people often assume that they'll fill that void with several felines. I, however, went for the slightly more tech-y version with a fair few megapixels. I'm still getting to grips with it, so please bear with me while I discover all its fancy settings, but I've found the self-timer bit, which I guess is the most important thing when it comes to outfit posts.

Speaking of, this outfit may have been hidden under my faithful sailor coat all day, but I have to mention the shorts. When Harriet was visiting, I thought it only fair to show her Cricket as we wandered past the Cavern Club, and the both of us ended up coming out with a little something. These shorts are by one of my favourite designers Carven, and it certainly helped that they were reduced by nearly £200. Expect to see these a lot, as I am one for mixing my clothing, and I can imagine these being worn with anything from sequinned crop tops to tailored white blouses... But, away from the world of "fashion" (no real mention of LFW here, I'm afraid!) I'm off to see Everything Everything this evening, and am currently eating pรขtรฉ. I really do live life on the edge...

These photos were taken in December, but lay forgotten in a folder somewhere in the depths of my computer until I unearthed them earlier. It would be a waste of a sunset if I didn't share them, so here they are! The church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas, often finds itself in the shadow of the Liver building, and I hadn't explored the grounds of it before this day - it's odd how one big tourist attraction can distract you from everything in the surrounding area. This weekend was dedicated to sightseeing as Harriet came up from Essex to visit Liverpool. We (of course!) had a wander around the docks, ate lots, drank lots, and had a good catch up over a manicure (girl power ✌) as we hadn't seen each other since Christmas. But now she's headed home, and I'm sighing over my reading list - I think that calls for a pub quiz and a fleeting visit to York, perhaps?

I have no reason to complain, my feelings change.

Jumper: £18, Topshop. Easy Jeans: £35, American Apparel, via asos. Leather clompy shoes: £3, vintage. Lips: Rhubarb, Topshop. Windswept hair: Merseyside.

I would go and straighten my hair the day it decides to start snowing again, but that's just the luck of the draw, I guess. With my middle parting, and oversized jumper (read: so darn comfy), this is probably the most "nineties grunge" I've ever dressed in the history of ever, but I kind of like it in contrast to my usual peter pan collared get ups. This is introducing my new investment piece too: the easy jean. After my last pair of jeans came to a high kickin' end, I thought I'd join the club with Olivia and Jazmine. When asos had 25% student discount I knew it was time, and used up the last of my voucher, meaning I managed to nab these for a slightly more reasonable price (£64, really?). They're way too long for my little legs, and maybe a bit too thin for my liking, but they fit my hips and waist which is an absolute novelty when you have an hourglass figure, which trumps their faults.

Anyway, I'm off to brave the wind/wet/mess that is the Liverpool weather - wish me luck! Hope you're all warm at home with a mug of tea (I may nick my flatmate's early grey today), and a good book.

Coco dress: c/o Chi Chi. Black and gold maryjanes: New Look.

Outfits I wear on a night out tend to not feature on my blog. I'm not entirely sure why, but I can only put it down to a combination of last minute getting ready, and simply forgetting. This Chi Chi dress is pretty glamorous for me, the girl who tends to stick to skirts and a blouse, but as it was Georgia's twenty-first coming up, I knew I had to up my game, and who can resist a classic LBD? With the gold beading and tight (in a sucking you in way, not in a can't breathe/what are these rolls? way) nature of the dress, it made me feel slightly less self-conscious than I normally do in bodycon, which is a pretty big achievement.

I'm off out tonight for another friend's birthday (shout out to Nicola!), then speeding eastwards to Sheffield on the morrow. This week has absolutely flown by, can someone possibly lend me Bernard's Watch?

Twenty facts.

As I'm sure you've seen them around, I don't think I need to explain the concept, and will just hop straight onto the "twenty facts about me" trend. I know it tends to be a Youtube thing, but I haven't quite the voice for video. Instead, please find attached some of the more amusing Photobooth shots I've taken over the past few months.

1. I am currently sat underneath two duvets, in tracksuit bottoms and a massive jumper, listening to The Big Bang Theory emanating from the living room. Fashion goes out of the window when you've been dancing till three am. My whole body protests against movement, so I'm letting it win for the moment.

2. When I first arrived in Liverpool I hated it. Now it's coming close to overtaking London as my favourite city of all time.

3. In my time, I have learnt German, French, Japanese, Russian, and Latin. I guess English counts as well.

4. I have danced since the age of four. Lessons fizzled out during GCSEs, but I miss it more than I could possibly describe.

5. My mum wanted to call me Helen, my dad wanted to call me Dakota. So I was called Rebecca.

6. The first thing I ever bought with my first paycheque was a Chanel lipstick, a dark pink called number 19, and I'm wearing it in most of these photos...

7. That first job was at Fat Face. I may have left when I started at university three years ago, but I'm still in regular contact with a lot of the people I met there, and Harriet's coming to visit in just over a week!

8. Ain't no one coming between me and hummus. No one.

9. The subjects I studied to A Level were English Literature (duh), History, German, and Fine Art - so artsy!

10. I was a vegetarian for just over a year just to see if I could do it. The only things I tripped up on were eating marshmallows once, and vodka jelly, but I'm still pretty impressed with myself.

11. My all time favourite film is Breakfast at Tiffany's. Sometimes I just have to put that on, switch on the fairy lights, and have a good ol' cry.

12. My favourite book, however, is a lot more difficult to choose. Up there have to be The Picture of Dorian Gray, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and His Dark Materials (those three books had the world's biggest impact upon my childhood).

13. I have gained grade five in singing. My "talents" are now wasted on mumbling along to Example.

14. I would do stupid things for Arctic Monkeys. In fact, I have. I travelled to Sheffield from Essex with two friends and got the first train home after staying out all night.

15. I'm a little bit of a hoarder, and form sentimental attachments to the weirdest of things. But why should I throw away that shoebox?

16. I wouldn't say that I'm a perfectionist, but I'm never content with anything I've achieved, even if I receive praise from others.

17. I love to write. That's one of the reasons I started this blog, as a way in which I could share words on a personal platform. I find that university is conducive to finding places to publish work, so I've been helping out a lot with Ellipsis and The Tab (links on the left, somewhere), as well as writing in a less structured manner for other people.

18. I think that Britain is amazing. As I can't afford holidays abroad, I'm trying to make the most of my friends living away from home to stay with them. Next weekend I'm heading to Sheffield, and then there's York in a fortnight.

19. Some people from Real Life (yep, it exists!) may not understand why I blog, but I really do think that it's given me the best opportunities (more coming up on that one soon...), and the absolute best friends.

20. OUR DOMINO'S HAS JUST ARRIVED!!

I'd almost forgotten what it felt like to feel my toes, but then the clouds parted and we finally had a little ray of sunshine! Although, admittedly, it's still bloody cold, and a coat was certainly necessary for a quick wander into town. Thankfully my new Next jumper, which I purposefully purchased a few sizes too big, kept me cosy, as I sneaked into Thornton's to pick up a sweet treat for my flatmate.

Exams are over (can I get a hell yeah) so now I'm getting stuck into the reading lists of my final semester's modules. I feel like there's not anything of particular interest to talk of seeing as my life for the past couple of weeks has been spent either waiting for the kettle to boil or under my duvet, but I'm sure I'll have plenty of adventures to share over the next few weeks!

I don't really like snow. I like the idea of it, the stillness in the air, and the blanketed whiteness of the landscape, but, clumsy as I am, the higher likelihood of falling over isn't one I look forward to. Thankfully this year I had some sensible footwear (yes, mum), as I'd won a pair of Hunter wellington boots in Char's giveaway a couple of months ago. They, so far, have helped me stay upright and salvage some amount of dignity that this season otherwise seems intent upon destroying.

Right now, my life would ideally be spent revising for my seventeenth century novel exam on Friday, but I have been led astray a couple of times for friends' birthdays, and have somehow found myself throwing myself on my bed around 3am wondering why I went out without tights on. But I promise I'll be back to reading Sense and Sensibility with a good cup of Yorkshire Tea (brand of choice, just so you're aware) once I've clicked publish.

Sunday heralded snow for Liverpool. Heedless of this, Clarity and I headed a few stops along the northern line to Crosby, for a wander along the seafront. Normally a destination for summer days, we were certainly very chilly as we headed further up the coast, taking shelter in a pub for a bite to eat, giving us strength for the homewards walk. Crosby's shore is lined with sculptures of iron men looking forlornly across the Irish Sea, a little eerie in the January fog, but a pull for tourists (and students!) nonetheless. Antony Gormley's Another Place was installed to showcase the North's natural beauty, and brought us out to an area of Merseyside that neither of us had ever had the intention of exploring beforehand. Admittedly I hadn't the foresight to wear sensible footwear (well done coco), and they've since left a sandy mess in my bathroom, but Clarity had a good paddle on my behalf! But right now I'm snuggled up on the sofa in our living room with a rather large mug of tea, Amy applying for jobs, me writing articles and designing pages for Ellipsis, feeling a lot warmer, and pretty content before exam stress rears its ugly head.
