From black skinnies to stiletto heels - could this outfit possibly be any more different to my last one? I was invited to Ladies Day at Royal Ascot on Thursday by Sky, and I thought this was probably the one day of the year I needed to make an effort. Please do note that attempted smoky eye. Followed by suncream and an always magical off-peak journey on the Waterloo and City line (how does that train exist?!), I met Charlie by the dinosaurs at Waterloo to head West, off to the races.

I've never been to the races before (I know, I know, I lived in Liverpool for three years and never made it to the Aintree Races), so I tried on about eight dresses before going for an old faithful - I don't know how those Made In Chelsea types cope with at least one black tie event a week. Everyone else seemed to have less difficulty than myself and looked effortlessly amazing, without a circle of shame in site. The day itself involved a constant supply of sunshine, cheering and royalty, and although I may not be totally convinced of the morals of horse-racing I'm glad I managed to pop along and try it out at least once.

Turning up to a Shoreditch pop-up bar afterwards in a posh frock afterwards did make me feel like a bit of a knob, but a swift change later you'd be hard-pressed to imagine I'd been sharing glances with Queenie earlier.

I got another dream lover.

Vintage Levi's denim jacket: mum's. Oasis faux suede top. Oasis Isabella ripped jeans: £28. Whistles clutch bag: c/o House of Fraser. Keds by Oasis English Rose trainers. Cheap Monday sunglasses. Essie "Sunday Funday" nail varnish.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock and don't follow Oasis on Instagram and Twitter (they're worth a follow, promise ;) ), you might not be aware that we've put our own little spin on the american classic. For once in my life I'm not talking about burgers, even if I did go to Five Guys last night - Oasis teamed up with Keds to create the prettiest pairs of trainers I ever did see. With four different styles to choose from, the English Rose seemed pretty apt for this pale-face, and they've seen me through plenty of hours of events running up and down the stairs at Argyll Street filming a flash mob or two with zero blisters to speak of - toes thumbs up all round!

And if under that aforementioned rock there's no Instagram, this'll be the first set of cherry blossom photos you've seen this year. Most people, however, are probably sick of the pastel pick blooms by now, but how could I resist popping along to Hylands Park whilst the blossom's in full bloom and my new favourite accessories are the shade to match? Wasted opportunity, this was not.

Well if you got that lean.

J.W. Anderson x Topshop ghost jumper: £56 (similar). Warehouse denim skirt: £2, via sample sale. Bally chelsea boots: £8, via charity shop. Topshop lace frill socks: gift. Whistles ponyskin bag: borrowed from Charlotte.

If ever there were a time to stray from my usual Sunday routine of sitting in bed with a cup of tea putting the final touches to a blog post, it would be Halloween. Up until the last couple of years this holiday passed me by in an orange-hued blur, but more recently I've found myself more inclined to celebrate and raid the fancy dress shops for something to top last year's attempts (which, in case you were wondering, were a drunken sunken sailor and my lookalike). I'm not quite ready to reveal what this year's costume will be, but keep your eyes on instagram and twitter this evening as I'm sure there'll be time for a quick ootn! Of course, I'm not going to let the daytime escape a little Halloween nod, so I'll be sure to slip into my trusty J.W.Anderson x Topshop ghost jumper and risk the tuts and glares of many an exasperated City worker on my commute.

Whether you're heading out to terrify the neighbourhood or treating yourself to a night in, I hope you have a lovely Halloween!
