Easter at Hylands Park

Military jacket: £7.50, charity shop. Blouse: £13.50, Topshop. Floral chiffon skirt: £15, American Apparel via ebay. Scouts belt: 10p, charity shop. Leather bag: £3, charity shop. Lipstick: "Gabrielle", Chanel.

Happy Easter!

Yesterday I met up with Jazzy to eat plenty of carbs and drink plenty of rosé - as per. Later I met up with a few friends from my secondary school to celebrate another twentieth (we're all so old!) and my feet are still feeling the four inch heels and Labrinth combination. After a much needed lie in, my mum and I went to Hylands Park for afternoon tea. If you've got that niggling feeling in your mind as if you recognise that name, it's probably because Hylands is the setting for the southern half of V festival. If you live anywhere near, I really recommend you visit when it's not filled with tweens covered in UV paint. The pleasure gardens are beautiful, and the house has recently been restored to its former glory - I am such a history geek. I'm off to Prezzo in a minute to catch up with a friend over pizza, and then I'm sure we'll find ourselves in the pub - it always happens! I hope everyone's enjoying their long weekend, and are ready to go to the supermarket tomorrow to buy reduced easter eggs. Or is it just me who does that...?

outtake, close up and words

The remains of an unwitting cover up
Blown across the stage.
Last night's curtain,
a rain shower,
Has hidden everything else.

The performers slumber in reality,
Art for art's sake
They care not for the intricacies of regularity
Stirring already
black. grey. navy. white.
Dampened nighttime misdeeds.

I don't really like posting my poetry here, but some people said they'd like to see more (and my friend said he liked it)

Today there was drama at work (involving two resigned policemen), I went to a BBC recording of Jarvis Cocker and Steven Merchant, and I currently have a wagamamas baby.

I did have a "proper" outfit shot (+long socks and boots) but I decided against posting. You're not missing out on much.

Albert is bright pink, and has things that look like pencil shavings down his front. Albert has also never been out of my house...
First attempt at a fishtail plait too.
The Luella sticker was part of my eighteenth birthday present, part of my shrine already.
And take a look at this piece of excitement!!!

Purely because it's a billion degrees and my pale, pale body cannot cope with this heat, I decided to sit on my windowsill and read A Clockwork Orange (which is very good, especially as I can understand a bit of Russian. Hello gcse!)
The crop top (which is several sizes too big for me, but I just didn't seem to care when I was buying it) + acid wash shorts + high ponytail combination makes me feel like I'm something out of the eighties, so here's a little treat for you...

a dreaded sunny day

So, it finally decides to become Summer! It's suddenly become that sickening stage of the season where it's hot enough to have every single window in your house open, but there's no breeze to speak of.
Yet I'm still drinking 5+ cups of tea a day.
But I can't complain, because I don't have any more exams!!
This is what I'm wearing to the exhibition of A Level and GCSE art at my school tonight. Exams may be over, but I clearly haven't left school for good yet...

ps. I have lookbook! Thanks to Ruta (: Please hype my first look!

Dress; New Look. Socks; obscure shop from my childhood, so probably Woolworths. Shoes; Topshop

Okay, I know I said I wouldn't post for a while, but have you ever spent about 90% of your waking hours in a small, confined space with several teenagers, no open windows and one fan??
Yes, welcome to the library.
I simply refuse to go there tomorrow.
As my brain had reached vegetative state, I decided that the obvious thing to do was take a photo, but horrific weather meant it had to be taken inside/out of my window.
And my window has a Peter Rabbit sticker on it (:
ps. my friend says she thinks I look like Cathy from Wuthering Heights??

Yesterday was the last time I ever had to wear uniform to school (well, excluding exams...), so all the girls decided to go upon a theme - St Trinian's.
Originally a series of sketches, and then a series of films between 1957-1980, as well as two recent adaptations, St Trinian's' girls are seen as role models of independence and femininity - just what you need when you go to a boy's school!
And to keep up the continuing theme of nature I took these shots in my back garden where there are still some bluebells remaining - they look so pretty :)

Scumbag Blues

I haven't done a "proper" outfit post for quite a while now - as in of clothing I'd genuinely wear out of the house. Going out wearing a tutu accompanied with a cuddly jumper and DMs is a cool idea, but I don't think I have the balls ;)
Either way, the dance theme continues in the guise of this American Apparel skirt. I used to have one in white purely for dancing examinations, but I can't find it anywhere. I feel a hunt coming on...

preparation

When one goes shopping, one must remember to:

1) Wear separates, in order to avoid spending a long time in the changing rooms.
T; Primark. Skirt; American Apparel, I live in it. Socks; Primark

2) Bring a nice big bag, with a tote inside it.
From Absolute Vintage, just off Brick Lane

3) Wear sensible shoes that are quick to get on and off.
I ignored this one and went for Victorian style shoes that lace up like Victorian style shoes. I'm not exaggerating. But they look pretty.
