From black skinnies to stiletto heels - could this outfit possibly be any more different to my last one? I was invited to Ladies Day at Royal Ascot on Thursday by Sky, and I thought this was probably the one day of the year I needed to make an effort. Please do note that attempted smoky eye. Followed by suncream and an always magical off-peak journey on the Waterloo and City line (how does that train exist?!), I met Charlie by the dinosaurs at Waterloo to head West, off to the races.

I've never been to the races before (I know, I know, I lived in Liverpool for three years and never made it to the Aintree Races), so I tried on about eight dresses before going for an old faithful - I don't know how those Made In Chelsea types cope with at least one black tie event a week. Everyone else seemed to have less difficulty than myself and looked effortlessly amazing, without a circle of shame in site. The day itself involved a constant supply of sunshine, cheering and royalty, and although I may not be totally convinced of the morals of horse-racing I'm glad I managed to pop along and try it out at least once.

Turning up to a Shoreditch pop-up bar afterwards in a posh frock afterwards did make me feel like a bit of a knob, but a swift change later you'd be hard-pressed to imagine I'd been sharing glances with Queenie earlier.

And I hope you're holding hands by new year's eve + a little treat for you!

Anthropologie Lillie playsuit: £98. Anthropologie faux fur bag: £58. Zara coat: £30. Christian Louboutin pigalle: £75, charity shop.

To go out or not to go out, that is the question. When Anthropologie asked me which of the two I'd be siding with this New Year's Eve, it took me all of three seconds to decide. As someone who is always in serious fear of FOMO, I tend to plug for the former, and have spent many a weekend (this one included) raising a glass to friends and shaking a tailfeather. I'm yet to make this year's celebrations concrete, but there's no doubt that a small group of us will make our way into the night, sure to see in 2015 with a smile and plenty of so-good-they're-bad dance moves - irresistible, I know! As a dance floor veteran, I'd like to think I've got my night out wardrobe down to a tee, leaving the stress purely down to how much my eyebrows want to cooperate. LBDs go without saying, the flattering colour hides many a sin and spilt vodka coke, but of late I've found myself leaning towards playsuits in the shade, which are the perfect mid-ground of pretty and dignity-saving. This little lace-trim number is plain enough to dress up with bright jewels, or let your faux fur bag do the talkin' (and you do the strokin', no weird here) instead.

Knowing that we had a new years theme, Sabby and I headed along to the place we knew placed a pretty big importance on time: Greenwich. Just a hop, skip and jump away from the meridian line, we looked over London ("you can see my house!") and made our first resolution to explore more areas of it in 2015.

Want to give that NYE outfit a pretty helping hand?

Anthropologie have very kindly offered me a £50 voucher to give away to one of my readers. All you have to do is vote for whether you're going out or staying in as the clocks strike the hour on the Anthropologie blog and leave a comment below with your email address letting me know which of the two you favour - good luck!

Looking for what to spend those pennies on? I've created a little mood board of my favourite things online right now - velvet! Embellishment! Lace! - for you to have look over and ponder what you'd add to your wishlist..

No, you didn't miss anything, these are just some of the photos I never got round to posting from my graduation. On Friday, it will be a year exactly since we threw our mortar boards into the clear blue sky, and what with all those in the year below sending snapchats and selfies my way, it seemed as relevant a time as ever to write a little throwback, of sorts. I always wonder whether these kind of posts are a little self-indulgent (the last one I wrote was waaay back in October), so feel free to scroll through the photos and move onto a prettier blog, of which I've listed plenty here, or hang around for a while, there might be some lols.

When I graduated, I was a little optimistic, which I can 100% guarantee is how the majority of undergraduates feel when they collect their degrees on stage. The usual things ran through my head about how I'd be employed within a month or so, be saving up to move out, and be livin' the dream in London. In short, I knew fuck all (technical term) about the reality of the job market, and found it pretty tough to come to terms with being one of the 2.51 million (May 2013, the month I left uni) out there who hadn't landed feet first in my chosen career. If you'd have told me that I'd be moving to Germany before the year was up I would have laughed plain in your face, and still to this day I'm a little surprised I did it, particularly considering I wasn't in the best frame of mind and physical condition to deal with the stress and upheaval of moving abroad. But, six months later, I came back with words like Katzenjammer under my belt and a whole load of new friends from all over the world.

Bumping back to reality was a bit of a bummer. Although it was rad to be within walking or train distance of everyone, it was frustrating to come back with no real idea, yet again, of what was about to happen. I completed two weeks of jury service, followed by two weeks interning at Cath Kidston's head office over in Shepherd's Bush, then four weeks at Oasis closer to home in Shoreditch, which has since been extended. Attempting to continue my social life (a what, now?) and not let this blog fall completely by the wayside (which I've come pretty close to many, many times in the past few months, and still wonder now whether perhaps getting eight hours sleep might be of more worth than replying to emails) has proved to be pretty tricky, particularly on an intern's budget, but that steadfast british resilience keeps seeing me through, and my need to be melodramatic quite clearly continues.

It's just a little funny to think of how much has changed in a year, since that landmark-to-me-moment. I've lived in two countries, been in five, met countless amounts of people, published 95 blog posts (including this one), and have 17 sitting in my drafts folder never to see the light of day, bought three stripy tops, been to four festivals, seen arctic monkeys three times, eaten a few litres of hummus, and got one job.

So yeah, sorry this #tbt isn't on a Thursday, but when have I ever done things by the book?

Okay, I'm really sorry but I cheated a little with this outfit. However much I love these shoes, I just don't think my feet were cut out for wearing them to Morrisons, and swapped them for a pair of heeled boots. But just join me in pretending that I was actually on my way to a series of very important meetings in Canary Wharf rather than deciding whether a "trick or treacle" themed tin of Lyle's black treacle would end up in the trolly (FYI, it obviously did). Every outfit I post here is something that I've worn all day (or all night, whatever), but I really thought that these shoes deserved another outing post-graduation, and these burgundy trousers seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Paired with a non-seasonally appropriate but completely wardrobe necessary blouse, I feel like I'm channelling someone slightly cooler. Perhaps. Maybe we need to keep pretending...

I haven't completely glossed over Hallowe'en, oh no. I've absolutely loved reading everyone's posts showing off their costumes, but mine only turned up yesterday so I didn't have time to take photos - curses, ebay! I'll be sure to instagram shots from tomorrow night and Saturday rather than create a "proper" post as mine will never be able to beat the ones I've read about so far (have you seen Megan's? Cobweb-induced jealousy!), and I don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone I'm seeing either night. But, just in case you're interested, here's what I've worn for the past three years. I hope you all enjoy yourself, whether that means a night in with whatever scary film's on channel 4, or being a nightmare in town!

You're now reading the blog of Rebecca Cohen, BA (Hons)! On Thursday I went to the robing room (yep) to collect this bad boy, and found myself sitting in the Philharmonic ready for my few seconds on stage to collect that little bit of paper that sums up three years of hard work. Sitting alongside some of the most talented people I know, the hall was filled with proud friends and family congratulating their gowned companions, and my hands were more than a little sore after about three hours of solid applause. After the ceremony had finished, without any literal slip ups which I'd been worrying about happening for months, my mum and I managed to grab a few outfit snaps on Abercromby Square - the location of the English offices, just outside the Sydney Jones Library. Of course my friends and I had to grab a couple of typical throwing our mortar boards in the air photos before splitting up to meet our families for food (I went to one of my favourite independent restaurants, The Quarter, for a vegetarian sharing board, and prawn and chorizo pasta). That evening we checked into a budget hotel (the less said about that the better) to prep for our last night out together as students. Suitable amounts of jägerbombs and egg fried rice later, we were ready to collapse. Groggy the next morning, it was sad to pack up all our belongings and wish each other a temporary goodbye, but it feels pretty darn fantastic to have graduated in such good company.

Best of luck to everyone else who's graduating (or has graduated!) in the next few weeks - congratulations!
