sleep is for the weak

I much prefer to daydream.
Or at least the transitional state between being conscious and unconscious, where you can vaguely control your dreams. It's definitely more fun that way.
And then I'll stop having visions of wolves (which, although beautiful, can get a bit samey after a while) night after night.
I love to watch the sun rise, and it's mucking up my body clock.

This photo was taken when I had a normal sleeping pattern (2008, I'm on the left):

Purely because it's a billion degrees and my pale, pale body cannot cope with this heat, I decided to sit on my windowsill and read A Clockwork Orange (which is very good, especially as I can understand a bit of Russian. Hello gcse!)
The crop top (which is several sizes too big for me, but I just didn't seem to care when I was buying it) + acid wash shorts + high ponytail combination makes me feel like I'm something out of the eighties, so here's a little treat for you...

Lace crop top; Primark. Shorts; American Apparel.

a dreaded sunny day

So, it finally decides to become Summer! It's suddenly become that sickening stage of the season where it's hot enough to have every single window in your house open, but there's no breeze to speak of.
Yet I'm still drinking 5+ cups of tea a day.
But I can't complain, because I don't have any more exams!!
This is what I'm wearing to the exhibition of A Level and GCSE art at my school tonight. Exams may be over, but I clearly haven't left school for good yet...

ps. I have lookbook! Thanks to Ruta (: Please hype my first look!

Dress; New Look. Socks; obscure shop from my childhood, so probably Woolworths. Shoes; Topshop

little lamb on a hill

rebecca cohen
Sometimes I wish I was small.
Not so small that I didn't exist, because that's selfish, mercenary and I'm not a coward.
I just wish I was small enough to remain unnoticed at times.
So that I could be carried around in someone's pocket.

My status on facebook at 22:07 yesterday was "little lamb on a hill", which is a line from Yes, I Am Blind by Morrissey.
I can't find the original on youtube, so this will have to do.

social networking

I have been tagged in a quiz by Ergy Erg - I swear this feels like the ultimate combination of Myspace, Facebook and Twitter!
There's a first time for everything, so here goes...:

1. Arrr What dog will that be?
For he is not an aardvark:

2. Have you ever got anything good from those 1 pound toy dispensers where you can get
little key chains and hello kitty phone charms?
I used to "collect" the little Winnie the Pooh keyrings where he was dressed up as christmas pies/sunflowers/pigs/etc. Looking back they were barely worth 4 pence :p

3. Band or banned?
I'm with the band (even if I'm banned from seeing them ;) ). Like them on Facebook HERE. You'll hear more about them in the future, I'm sure (:

(For people who know me, don't read into that)

4.Want to go and get a beer mate?
Only if that beer is a double amaretto and cranberry juice. THE DRINK OF GODS.

5.Do you like the Goofy Movie!?
Never seen it :$ However, I did play Duwey (Donald Duck's nephew) in a dance show once. Guilty, secretive, showtime past...

6.What is your favourite novelty 90's band!?
MC Hammer
rebecca cohen

7. Do you like animated 90's gifs
The hell, Caroline?! (ha, I had to look at your Lookbook to find your name, I just refer to you as "ergy" pronounced like "eurgh-gee" in my head :p ) But I like the nineties, and I like gifs. I'll just put MC Hammer in again, for funsies. (:rebecca cohen

8.What's the best ever thing you've got from a souvenir/museum shop?
She's from Ireland and hangs on my bedroom door (:

Now, let's tag eight others!
Kathy from 5-6-7-8 Vintage
Danielle from vintagefaarie
Hannah from Love, Hannah
Ruby and Siel from Two Wonder Girls

And here are the eight questions:
Cats or dogs?
What is your favourite quotation of all time?
I need to download more music! Which one artist do you recommend?
What was the last thing you bought?
What is your vice?
Do you dream in colour?
Write a haiku about the last half hour of your life.
Take a photo of the first thing you see when you look to your left.

Today has been rather a languid and apathetic day.
I didn't sleep very well, had to go to the doctor's and watched a documentary on the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy (it was a Culture Show special on BBC2, check it out on iPlayer)
But, as it was my brother's birthday recently, we have chocolate cake in the house. So I put on my favourite dress and had a bedroom picnic (:

Okay, I know I said I wouldn't post for a while, but have you ever spent about 90% of your waking hours in a small, confined space with several teenagers, no open windows and one fan??
Yes, welcome to the library.
I simply refuse to go there tomorrow.
As my brain had reached vegetative state, I decided that the obvious thing to do was take a photo, but horrific weather meant it had to be taken inside/out of my window.
And my window has a Peter Rabbit sticker on it (:
ps. my friend says she thinks I look like Cathy from Wuthering Heights??

june gloom

Came home the other day to these bad boys in the post.
The lovely Claire at Jazzpad held a giveaway a couple of weeks ago, and I won it.
Seriously, I haven't won anything since I was in year six. It was a collection of felt tips which have completely dried up by now. To win two giveaways in a matter of days?? Insane, I tells ya.
Anyway, it was (past tense, trust me, I can't help but rip packaging) wrapped, so I photographed it with some teapots, only to find out that Claire had popped in a teapot themed card!
Thank-you so much!!

A vintage St Michael bag which my purse actually fits in and a vintage brooch - not to mention the card which is now blu-tacked to my wall

Apologies for the last post. It was three in the morning, it'd been a mixed night out. I shouldn't be allowed to publish at that time.
I quote a friend: "
It serves as a reminder that you should feel?? You little 12 year old emo kid"
So to make up for it I'm going to share something nice with you. I've been listening to the Like so much recently that it can't be healthy.
Happy June (:

ps. feel free to follow me on twitter, my tweets are just protected because I have a complicated life (:

vintage scarves

Well, it was a lot cooler today that yesterday. Did I jinx it?
Still didn't want to admit defeat, so I just found my bag of thin silk scarves and chucked one on, in my state of blatant denial. I got the green Mickey Mouse scarf (originally from Disneyland Paris) from the bath product shop Lush. If you buy something from there, you can get it "girft-wrapped" for £3.95 in one of their vintage scarves - so of course I picked this one! The red buckle-print scarf was from a charity shop near to where I live.
But the cute horse one I received in the post today, courtesy of Charly at What I Wore Today! I won her lovely giveaway a few days ago, and received the package in the post today. Have a feeling this'll be my new favourite necklace! And the chocolates are in a safe place, far away from my brother....
(Apologies for the appalling quality of the photos, taken in poor natural light and with my phone, it was never really going to work!)

Yesterday was the last time I ever had to wear uniform to school (well, excluding exams...), so all the girls decided to go upon a theme - St Trinian's.
Originally a series of sketches, and then a series of films between 1957-1980, as well as two recent adaptations, St Trinian's' girls are seen as role models of independence and femininity - just what you need when you go to a boy's school!
And to keep up the continuing theme of nature I took these shots in my back garden where there are still some bluebells remaining - they look so pretty :)

Straw Boater; vintage. Blazer and tie; school. Skirt; French Connection. Shoes; Topshop
