There are many, many shades of stubborn.

Generally considered to be a "bad" trait due to quite a lot of spoilt brat connotations, stubborn's got a bit of a bad rep. A good 75% of the time, it's well deserved, but that other 25% needs an apology. Several times over. Seeing as I'm doing this on my phone (why did I book an airbnb without wifi? Or why does an airbnb without wifi exist?) and need something wordy to fill my Sunday morning, let's try to create a magical scale of stubborn, which we may all refer back to in times or need/probably an argument.

0-25% - You're wrong, you know you're wrong, but like f you're going to admit it
Also called "when the penny drops". We've all be there, even Steven Hawking. Most commonly happens when in a state of severe stress/sleep deprivation/skim reading, or all three. It's tough, but maybe just admit at the time you know you're wrong, and take it out on them some other time ("oh, you've finished your drink? Sorry, I didn't notice when I bought this round").

26-50% - You're pretty sure this is the best idea of all time
Shout out to anyone who's ever found themselves trekking to town in the pouring rain as their friend's found the most amazing place for brunch, only for it to have stopped serving at 11.30. No, we don't care that it does the best compote this side of Brittany, or whether the place down the road's fry up is nearly as good, where is my stack of beautifully fluffy pancakes? I feel this may also apply to parents, god help you.

51-75% - You're doing this for their own good, you know
More often than not, this can be applied to some sadistic early alarm (no, I do NOT want to leave my bed today, hard as it is to believe), but is also relevant when people aim to help you face your fears in some ilk, or buy you running shoes cos they heard your new years resolution was to get fit. Very nice of you and all, but that was so January.

76%+ - You're right, you've got the facts to back you up, but nah
This is the adult equivalent of being patted on the head, and told to play with your toys. Bring it up to mid twenties, and it's when you're sat in a strategy meeting and you're pushing for something, but your line manager is being a mouthpiece for the execs; they know you're sense but "I'm big, you're small" and we WILL be doing this.

And then there's the one where there's the dress from topshop you've been after for months, reduced to £15, but definitely a size too small. You get it after Cheese-mas and you actually look like a roll of camembert, but wear it anyway. I'd gauge this around the 47% mark.

Brb, off to wander the cheese section of Booths (look but don't touch).

What kind of man.

Boohoo fringed suede jacket: £25. Topshop patterned crop top: £24 (only blue online). American Apparel circle skirt: £15, ebay. Hobbs ankle boots: £40, warehouse sale. Brit-Stitch satchel. Your Fashion Jewellery skull necklace. Charity shop belt: 20p. Essie Lapiz of Luxury nail varnish. Rimmel Kate Moss 08 lipstick.

Who knew I'd be so sold on a trend? I fully expect rolled eyes and people sitting that liiittle bit further away from me when I turn up to the pub in this jacket, but I think I can handle some stick when it prompts a fair few heart-eyed emoji from the people that matter  - yep, that does mean you guys. It's fringed (check) and suede (you got it) so who am I to resist something so perfect? I noticed Boohoo were offering free next day delivery, so there were a mere 12 hours between me and the ridiculous jacket of my dreams. I'd recommend sizing up as this one fits pretty tight, but it'll be perfect for spring and that mythical time when I stop eating bread. When paired with my favourite Hobbs boots which I trekked to Harlesdon to buy and a slick of my current obsession Kate Moss 08, I think the 70s trend might just be something I could get on board with.

Want to try it out too? Be swayed (heh) by my favourite suede picks:

Barry had a record store.

Oasis stripy top: £18 (incl. staff discount). Vintage mom jeans. Oasis Camden chelsea boots: £40.80 (incl. staff discount). Brit Stitch half pint. Little Nell key necklace.

When you're a few lemsip down, have multiple packets of tissues on the go and you've had to save your make up due to a sneezing post-mascara scenario (am I the only one?), it's not time to start pulling on your fanciest frock. Instead, go for the most-worn and fail-safe combination in your wardrobe: stripes and denim. Hey, you may not be Françoise Hardy wearing stripes in, um, a bush, but it's a notable step up from pyjamas, so we all know who's winning here. Add in some brand new chelsea boots, nail varnish that feels a billion times brighter than you do and some layers very close to hand, and you've got yourself a leaving the house situation.

Due to rail replacement (can I have a "hell no"), my mum and I decided to head to Billericay so that I could avoid the seventies on wheels for one leg of my journey to Waterloo. Billericay, of Gavin and Stacey fame, is one of those towns I never seem to visit, despite the joy it can provide. I went relatively recently for dinner and drinks with friends, but it was the first time I'd seen the high street in daylight for years, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a record shop come café with Mayer Hawthorne posters and plenty of cake. We whiled away the afternoon with cups of tea and eavesdropping conversations ("...and that's when he pulled on his coat and left the courtroom!") before receiving a whatsapp saying everyone was similarly ill and it was perfectly ok to return home, put the PJs back on and tune in to Take Me Out.

Till next rail replacement, Billericay - see you next weekend.

Sometimes photos just don't turn out quite how you imagine them. I very nearly didn't use these ones, but it seemed a shame to assign this attempt completely to the bin, and I needed to justify my hoarding to my hard drive. So here's to frizzy hair, wonky lipstick, rainy days, and a much better post coming your way on Sunday.

Last month you may have heard me mention on twitter or see some of my instagrams of heading a little North to Berlin. Sorry for the radio silence on that front, but I typically managed to get a little distracted, and now I'm only just getting round to showing you my photos.

Despite having wanted to visit since I started learning German in year seven, this is the first time I've managed to make it to Berlin. Now I'm living in the same country, we managed to nab a really cheap return bus journey (taking nearly four times as long as it would be to fly from London, but let's just ignore that painful memory for now) and a few of us headed to the German capital on Friday night. Of course the Berlin Wall memorial was on our to-do list, and we headed to East Side Gallery in the biting cold. It's always odd to see something you've seen in photos millions of times before, but it does hit home quite a bit more in real life. From learning about various Fluchtversuche in A Level lessons (the fact I actually remember that word says a lot, in the above photos the words "freedom", "history", and "euphoria" have been woven into the art work) to seeing the iconic graffiti on instagrams worldwide, it was a bit of a surreal experiencing it first hand. Unfortunately the freezing cold got the better of us and we didn't manage to walk to entire length of the Berlin Wall, but we headed back to the edges of Kreuzberg for a warming hot chocolate.

I was determined to bring my Brit-Stitch satchel to Berlin, purely to photograph the B in a city starting with the same name (me? perfectionist?), so it made its way on the coach with us. I decided to pair it with my favourite Topshop leather skirt, which has definitely seen better days, so I'm on the look out for a new one - please let me know if you see any good'uns! I've recently been looking at Zalando's leather skirts as they're a German company (based in Berlin, funnily enough) so it'll arrive a lot more quickly than if I were to get another Topshop one, but I'm currently undecided. Add in a collared blouse and buckle boots (and, obviously a warm coat, ain't nobody got time for colds), and I had a thoroughly 'me' outfit. Not bad for panic packing in about an hour...

Currently sat on a coach heading back to Munich from Berlin (it was pretty last minute decision, hence why this is the first time I've mentioned it!), looking back on these photos feels like a lifetime ago, even though this is just six days back. Taken on a chilly Wednesday afternoon, I thought it was about time I wore my matching snood and bobble hat that I received for Christmas - thanks mum! Munich isn't actually that cold at the moment, surprisingly, but it's always nice to feel cosy, and this snood doubles up as a portable head support/pillow, so it's a great all-rounder, and perfect for the lunchtime trip to the supermarket for the essential sweet restock. Essential.
