Debbie Harry t-shirt: £7, H+M kids. Yellow midi-dress (worn as skirt): £13, Primark. Heeled chelsea boots: £60, Topshop. Bag: ma's. Belt: 20p, charity shop. Watch: gift, Rotary. Sunglasses: £1, Primark.
Ignoring my facial expression (which I coincidentally find hilarious), this outfit consists of jumping on a trend roughly a year later than everyone else. The morning's bleary eyes decided it was time to try out a midi, however, it being "too yellow" resulted in bringing out the classic cohen technique: add a band tee. My collection's not the biggest, but there are two Arctic Monkeys, two Smiths, one Black Lips, and this, which I purchased from the children's section of H+M a summer or two ago. For now there is just one midi-dress in my wardrobe, and I'm not wholly convinced that I'll add to it, as I'm pretty sure I look even shorter than I actually am (5'4", FYI). Although it does do a rather good job of covering my ice-cream baby, and that's all I really look for in a dress.
Today is the last day of my current internship, cue going to M&S before work for chocolate chip cookies and milk chocolate digestives to dunk in our tea. Although I'm sad to be leaving, I am not sorry to avoid commuting past the Olympic Park during the first week of the Games. I'm going to try and find a pub tonight that's showing the Opening Ceremony as I wasn't lucky enough to get tickets (or rich enough to be able to afford them). Did any of you manage to get tickets for events?

DeleteI love that skirt, and you can never go wrong adding a band tee. xoxo
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly, every time. xx
DeleteSuch a good idea to wear a dress as a skirt! I always refrain from buying sleevless dresses since I feel like I'll only have a month or two to wear them but now, well, you've given me ideas! The midi style does suit you well, 5'4" or not. I used to think I was sooo short (I'm around the same height) and then, I started working at a place where I'm the tallest cashier; everyone asks me to reach for stuff on higher shelves!
ReplyDeleteI felt like I might be too in your face with bright yellow, so wanted to break it up a bit - you could always stick a jumper on, or a button-up blouse?
Deleteaha, really?? Short girls unite! xx
I'm 5'4" too and I've tried on several midi skirts and each time i've thought, "there is no way I can get away with this" but I'm thinking I might just give it a go after seeing your post! x
ReplyDeleteYes!! Do it, I'm glad I at least tried it out, as I'm so boring with my wardrobe at times xx
DeleteYou look gorgeous, you look pretty tall actually! I didn't get tickets, I'm cuddled up on my sofa in the North happily watching the volleyball haha xxx
ReplyDeleteaha, that's a first! Could be worst, at least you get constant supplied of (free) tea and a duvet xx
DeleteLove that dress, such a gorgeous colour and it looks fantastic on you!
ReplyDeleteI'm too nervous to try a midi skirt because I'm worried my legs will just look stumpy!
I'm not going to the olympics, my brother's going to the women's volleyball though! x
Thank you! Oh, that was my worry too, maybe try one on in store? aha, obscure choice there! My friend's going to paralympics trampolining... xx
