Tortoiseshell and Indigo

Coat: £63, Topshop. Blouse: £12; Primark. Jamie Jeans: £18, Topshop. Bag: £8, vintage from Manchester. Ballet flats: c/o Le Bunny Bleu.

Some things never change: the wind in Liverpool (my excuse for the Myspace style hand-in-hair pose, I swear). But some things do: I'm wearing jeans! I shan't lie, I'm still not convinced, but when I run out of clean tights these suffice well enough. Anyone else have a real jeans phobia?

Another 'new' thing is that I'm wearing completely flat shoes. This never happens, even my Russell and Bromley "flats" have an extra inch. This lovely pair were sent to me by Le Bunny Bleu, so now I have to stop being short and in denial. They're actually a sort of wine tortoiseshell colour, but the annoying February light doesn't really show that so I've added a close up, starring Ikea bedsheet. There's a store in the strattaz Stratford Westfield opposite Dr Martens that you should check out if you're there.

I'm off to make myself another lemsip as I thought it would be a really good idea to walk home in February at 4am in a sheer shirt. Sure. My duvet (and Sidney's "Astrophil and Stella") are calling!

  1. I love your coat, so simple yet chic - much more appropriate than a sheer shirt (!) I stumbled across your blog this week and I love it!

  7. I had a jeans phobia not too long ago but once the weather got seeeriously cold I thought to myself I need to dress for comfort too. Now I'm always in jeans, I bought some in burgundy to livin' them up a tad and they're my favourite. I have black too which I love just as much. Your look wonderful also, your coat is very sweet!

  13. For so long I also had an irrational hatred against jeans, but now they're in regular circulation of my outfits. This outfit looks so good! But you're right, it's too cold to be taking photos outside, so go and get into bed or something! xxxx

  14. I literally never wear jeans either, though my aunty got me some from Topshop for Christmas and black skinny pair and a burgundy pair and I wear them a bit, but only because they're extremely comfortable... Tights beat jeans any day!

  15. They are some very excellent shoes, I need to get me some flats that aren't crappy. I am quite afraid of wearing jeans! They certainly accentuate one's hips and I'm not sure that I want them accentuated! ALSO that is one excellent sailor coat!

  29. Ah, you look great in jeans! I never wear jeans either, although i only have a couple of pairs (both from primark, both a bit too long for me and going saggy in all the wrong places) I keep finding pretty blouses i like though and feeling that jeans might be the only things to wear with them! x

  58. Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
