Who knew I'd be so sold on a trend? I fully expect rolled eyes and people sitting that liiittle bit further away from me when I turn up to the pub in this jacket, but I think I can handle some stick when it prompts a fair few heart-eyed emoji from the people that matter  - yep, that does mean you guys. It's fringed (check) and suede (you got it) so who am I to resist something so perfect? I noticed Boohoo were offering free next day delivery, so there were a mere 12 hours between me and the ridiculous jacket of my dreams. I'd recommend sizing up as this one fits pretty tight, but it'll be perfect for spring and that mythical time when I stop eating bread. When paired with my favourite Hobbs boots which I trekked to Harlesdon to buy and a slick of my current obsession Kate Moss 08, I think the 70s trend might just be something I could get on board with.

When you're a few lemsip down, have multiple packets of tissues on the go and you've had to save your make up due to a sneezing post-mascara scenario (am I the only one?), it's not time to start pulling on your fanciest frock. Instead, go for the most-worn and fail-safe combination in your wardrobe: stripes and denim. Hey, you may not be Françoise Hardy wearing stripes in, um, a bush, but it's a notable step up from pyjamas, so we all know who's winning here. Add in some brand new chelsea boots, nail varnish that feels a billion times brighter than you do and some layers very close to hand, and you've got yourself a leaving the house situation.

Due to rail replacement (can I have a "hell no"), my mum and I decided to head to Billericay so that I could avoid the seventies on wheels for one leg of my journey to Waterloo. Billericay, of Gavin and Stacey fame, is one of those towns I never seem to visit, despite the joy it can provide. I went relatively recently for dinner and drinks with friends, but it was the first time I'd seen the high street in daylight for years, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a record shop come café with Mayer Hawthorne posters and plenty of cake. We whiled away the afternoon with cups of tea and eavesdropping conversations ("...and that's when he pulled on his coat and left the courtroom!") before receiving a whatsapp saying everyone was similarly ill and it was perfectly ok to return home, put the PJs back on and tune in to Take Me Out.

Cohen's back, tell a friend. Seeing as I tend to take photos in advance (thank god, seeing as I haven't had the time to take any in the past week, because life) it seems weird to think that these were taken just two days after flying back, which technically makes this the first UK outfit for a while. I'm now very much in a schedule: I've completed jury service, am now three days into my internship at Cath Kidston and back to complaining daily about how appalling Greater Anglia's service is. Tonight I'm headed in a Nando's direction - the one direction I'm interested in, heh - before staying at a friend's, which isn't really leaving that much time for sleep.

On a more legitimate fashion blogger note (when I'm tired I tend to go on rather obscure tangents, the above is actually pretty focused), I was incredibly excited when I got an email from the people behind Petit Bateau. You may have seen that I'm a fan of the Petit Bateau marinière I picked up in the sale from their Munich store, and it's nice to wear a t-shirt that's good quality and not an arctic monkeys band tee, which are still going strong a good five years from first purchase. Of course, I took this nautical motif very seriously and headed down to the water to watch the Thames sailing barges with their distinct brown sails float on the river Chelmer at Maldon . I do like to work on a theme.

Do you ever put on an outfit and think of a blogger immediately? Well, I do. Every time I wear my circle skirt I think of j rox, something that involves clashing colours is certainly a Lucy speciality, Carven brings Kristabel to mind, and I always remember Amy's smock dress phase/obsession when I put mine on. When I opened the box this dress was packed in, I immediately remembered Olivia's post, which I described to her as "the pastel Brighton one with the ladylike dress". I may not have been Brighton-bound for this post, but one afternoon trip to Hylands Park with my mum mid-September did mean that I had an excuse to wear something a little more fancy than my current jeans and t-shirt uniform, and I'm never one to pass up an opportunity to get dolled up (even if it is just for a cup of tea).

Tonight I'm headed to the wharves of East London for a gig (no surprise what I'll be wearing) as it's been far, far too long since I saw live music. The rest of the week will involve a lot of dancing as I pretend to be a fresher tomorrow and then get to see my best blogging chums this weekend in Birmingham. Come Sunday evening I'll be cowering beneath my duvet claiming all I need is a good book and a hot chocolate. Well, at least until I'm told otherwise.
