Tie neck blouse: c/o Next. Oasis velvet trousers: borrowed, coming soon, sign up here. Boohoo suede heels (old, similar). Laura Ashley trench coat (old). Missguided fedora: £15. Rimmel Kate Moss 08 lipstick.

There are lots of things you can rely on. For example:

- The Weather. Going down to the water? Don't be an idiot and wear flared trousers, a hat liable to following the wind and your hair down matched with lipstick. And do not, by any means, photograph it - you should see the outtakes. Back in Maldon, I decided to wear a pair of trousers so long I had to hold them up through the pockets of my coat (#shortpeopleprobs, these are a sample and I'm pretty sure the real ones won't be this long) and everything else lying at the far end of the sensible spectrum.

- Childhood Glee. Making gifs is still one of my absolute favourite things to do. Look at it! The sea is moving! I made it go backwards!

- Tie Neck Blouses. Without doubt, they will make you feel like Blair Waldorf. Excuse me while I go find a headband and fish out my Gossip Girl boxset from the bottom of the pile.

- Next Day Delivery. Cinderella shall go to the ball. And she shall be wearing a brand new outfit, because an overflowing wardrobe does not an outfit make. Happily enough Next now offer next day delivery for a mere £3.99 (or free to store, music to the ears of "I'd rather spend it in Pret" me) if you order before midnight. So if you do lose any shoes on your night out, there'll be a new pair ready for you the morning after the night before. Laura Ashley trench coat. Topshop scuba top: €15, via Oberpollinger. H&M palm print trousers: £15 (I've got my eye on this similar pair of culottes). Warehouse lace up flats: £29. Gemporia ring. Brandy Melville "thug life" necklace: €9.

When it rains, go somewhere muddy. Obviously.

Last week I booked a couple of days off work and headed over to Oxford to catch up with family. All plans to have a charming break in glorious August sunshine were quickly nipped in the bud when glancing at BBC Breakfast's weather report, but in true brit style we went for it anyway - that's what umbrellas are for, right? After dropping our bags off, we headed to the Botanic Garden. More than just your usual scrub of grass, this garden housed everything from cannabis to pineapples - something for every palate. I, of course, couldn't help but get some snaps in the palm house as opportunities to match your outfit with your surroundings should never be given up.

It was also a little bit of a special place for me to visit, as it's home to 'Lyra's bench'. Growing up, my absolute favourite books were the His Dark Materials trilogy written by Philip Pullman, from which grew my fascination with this little Oxfordshire city. Anyone else spend a little too much time trying to work out which animal their dรฆmon would be? I may not have explored Oxford by rooftop like Lyra (although we did climb up Carfax tower), but I couldn't help but visit the little memorial to her and Will whilst we were there.

Time to dust off my old books, and get lost in a novel on the 6.47 tomorrow.

I want desire.

Luella blouse: ebay. Vintage suede skirt: £8, charity shop. Laura Ashley trench coat. Adidas Spezial: £29, Freeport Braintree. Rotary watch. Rimmel Kate Moss 08 lipstick.

It's always a bit weird to revisit things. I'm not talking an ex-boyfriend here (bye means bye, okay?), I'm talking places. I grew up in Woodford, which is best explained as 'on the east bit of the Central line', and, despite heading back to Loughton every six months to go to the dentist, I hadn't really been back since we upped sticks and headed way out 'so far past zone nine you can't even use an oyster card' in 2003. For the first time in over a decade, my mum and I popped back down the M11 to have a little wander along memory lane. It's a bit like heading back to a club you frequented in freshers week - things are a bit hazy, but you know where the toilet is and vaguely recognise that booth.

In case you're not aware (you probably aren't, half the people I live with now haven't heard of Redbridge, let alone know it's in the same county), if you look at London on Google maps and see the reservoirs just north of Central, I'm talking a little bit east of there. We started off the day in Highams Park, by far my favourite of all the places in that little bit of the London-Essex border. There aren't many places I can see myself settling down (this is what moving all over the place does to a girl...), but there is something about this area which gives me complete chilled out vibes, and I would definitely move in without a second thought were it not so bloody expensive to live there. London housing woes aside, we walked past my mum's first flat, through the Park, past my childhood home, and round Woodford Green back to the car. We then popped over to Loughton for dinner before heading up into Epping Forest a little to take these photos. Oh, wisteria, how I miss you already.

Are there any little pockets of London you love to re-visit? I'm always on the lookout for more places to fall in love with!

I would send you roses.

Laura Ashley trench coat (old). COLLECTIVE t-shirt. Oasis floral shorts. Hobbs boots: £40, warehouse sale. Elsie Belle masquerade necklace: £9. Barry M gel nail varnish. "Apple blush" bouquet: c/o Appleyard London.

From one English Rose to another - it's not every day you get a flower delivery, so when a (rather large) box of flowers appeared in the post room two months too late for Valentine's there was a bit of a stir in the office. We all came to the same conclusion: these blooms are beautiful. I'm not personally one for roses, but this blush half-dozen caught my eye, and I couldn't wait for the lilies to properly open and fill my home with their signature scent (they're currently alive 'n' blooming in my kitchen, right now). With such a pretty posey, I couldn't resist getting the milk bottle legs out in my current favourite floral print shorts for a top to toe look that's accidentally "it's a girl!" appropriate.

Things have been more than a little overwhelming for me recently, so I'm planning to spend as much of this bank holiday weekend drunk relaxing before returning to work on Tuesday. I'll also be heading West after voting on Thursday to visit a friend, so if anyone has any Cardiff recommendations please do leave a comment below, or send me a much-appreciated tweet!
